Becoming an ASL Interpreter
Hello Everybody!
My name is Crystal Nichols and I have decided to write a Blog about How to Become
an ASL Interpreter for any of those who might be interested in becoming an
Interpreter or want to know more about interpreters or interpreting. Throughout
my blog I will go over some of the steps you can take to become a certified
interpreter as well as resources to help you to become a certified interpreter.
I will also include more about Interpreting and how important it is to
the Deaf community. I personally am
still in the process of becoming a certified interpreter so I hope that by
writing this blog I can educate both you and I. I hope to also educate those
who want to learn more about Deaf culture, I am in no way an expert and I am
only an ally but I hope to make people more aware of the Deaf community. In the
blog, I will include resources you can look at, examples of interpreting and
some of what is required of a person who is interested in joining the every
expanding field of Interpreting. I started it as a resource but as time goes on
I hope to document more about the life a certified interpreter and what the
everyday life of an Interpreter requires.
